Dr. Yack has worked as Principal, Co-Principal Investigator, or Project Manager for multiple marine and terrestrial studies since 2001, including but not limited to:

  • Passive Acoustic Monitoring of marine mammals in the Arctic, Hawaii, Temperate Pacific, Southern California Bight, Gulf of Alaska, and the Northwest Atlantic Ocean.
  • Development of Acoustic Based Habitat Models for Sperm Whales in the Mariana Islands Region
  • Acoustic Based Density Estimates of Beaked Whales and Sperm Whales in the Gulf of Alaska
  • Development of Automated Click and Whistle Classifiers for the Temperate Pacific, Hawaii, and Atlantic regions
  • Acoustic Analysis for Noise Monitoring of Pile Driving Activities
  • Sperm Whale Vocal Behavior in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean
  • Development of an Acoustic Killer Whale Ecotype Classifier
  • Development of Statistical Methods for examining relationships between odontocete vocal behavior and navy sonar signals
